The Oakland Mills Local Leadership Team (OMLLT) would like to invite you to participate in the 5th Annual Job and Career Fair on Friday, January 19, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. This event will be held at Oakland Mills High School, (OMHS) located at 9410 Kilimanjaro Road, Columbia, MD 21045. The Job & Career Fair will host workshops and present differing careers and employment opportunities to youth and young adults ages 14 - 24 years old. This is the 5th year that the OMLLT has collaborated with OMHS to help its students prepare for college, work and life.

The mission of the Oakland Mills Local Leadership Team is to mobilize residents of Oakland Mills Village to build an equitable and cohesive community that helps children, youth and families thrive.

In the 2018 community survey, Oakland Mills youth expressed the need to access more information on career pathways and opportunities for summer jobs. In response to youth’s expressed needs, the Local Leadership Team, has partnered annually with The Howard County Department of Community Resources and Services, Howard County Workforce Development, and The Jacaranda Center for Family and Youth Development, Inc., to host the Oakland Mills Youth Job and Career Fair, where students participate in workshops, apply for jobs, and engage professionals.

YOU are invited to participate in our career round tables to directly respond to student questions regarding the joys and challenges of your profession and offer them individual advice on required training and networking for their career choices. Feedback from past fairs suggests that students are interested in learning what types of classes they should take in high school, what potential internships/experience might be important and what type of further education or training may be important to pursue certain careers or trades.
